Review Papers

The Journal of Food and Feed Science-Technology is a refereed journal published twice (January and July) in a year by Central Research Institute of Food and Feed Control.

In the journal, original research articles and review articles prepared by researching a specific topic from sufficient sources are published. Articles that do not have significant potential or findings and that are only of local interest will not be accepted for publication. The language of the article published in the journal can be Turkish or English.

Articles to be published in the journal should be related in food, feed, additives and raw materials, water-wastewater, aquaculture, food contact materials and materials;

  • Reliability and quality
  • Processing technologies
  • Analysis methods
  • Biosafety and biotechnology
  • Socio-economic researches
  • Regulations
  • Other topics (traditional foods, organic food and feed, nutrition, food identification, evaluation of food and feed industry waste, etc.).

The article which have been submitted to the journal “Food and Feed Science&Technology” must not have been previously published the whole or part of the article in any language (except for theses and abstracts). An article published in the journal “Food and Feed Science-Technology” cannot be published elsewhere.

In researches where the Ethics Committee Permit Certificate is used, these documents should be added to the article.

It is the responsibility of the authors to indicate the support received directly or indirectly from any institution or organization in the article sent to the journal "Food and Feed Science-Technology" for publication under the title of first page footnote or thanks.

Articles that have been evaluated as appropriate for publication in our journal, which are passed through all stages, are put in order to be published according to the date of upload to the system. Information about which issue will be published is sent to the responsible author.

Articles that are prepared without complying with the writing rules given below and / or that do not comply with journal publishing principles are returned to the author without being sent to the referee.

3.1.1. Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts should be sent to bursagida@tarimorman.gov.tr via e-mail without the need for a hard copy.

The responsibility for the accuracy of the information in the article belongs to the author (s).

If the author wishes, up to three names can be suggested to the relevant section in the "Final Checklist Form (BGA-FR-103)" to evaluate the article. The Editor and Editorial Board retains the right to choose the reviewers.

The submitted articles are first examined by the editorial board for compliance with journal principles. “Editorial Board Evaluation Form (BGA-FR-105)” is filled in for the articles reviewed by editorial board members. For those which are not found appropriate, the reason for not being accepted is reported to the author.

Those deemed eligible are sent to the three referees in that field who have completed the “Referee Mission Letter Form (BGA-FR-107)” together with the “Referee Article Review Form Form (BGA-FR-106)”. (Firstly, it is sent to two referees. In case of a negative result from one of the referees, it is sent to the third referee).

The journal uses the double-blind peer review system, in accordance with the provisions of the COPE, where the identities of the referees and authors are hidden from each other.

Referees fill in the “Referee Evaluation Form (BGA-FR-102)” and send their evaluations about the article to the editor. Names of reviewers and authors are kept confidential and reports are kept for five years. If two of the referee reports are positive and the other negative, the article is published. The referee who gives negative opinion is informed about the situation. The authors make corrections in accordance with the opinions and suggestions of the referees. The Editor and Editorial Board may change the writing style of the articles when necessary. "Manuscript Acceptance Letter (BGA-FR-110)" will be sent to the author whose articles have been accepted and “Referee Article Acknowledgment Letter (BGA-FR-115) is sent to the referees who evaluate in this article.

The "Copyright Transfer Form (BGA-FR-104)" and "Final Checklist (BGA-FR-103)" should also be submitted with all articles.

After completing the “Copyright Transfer Form (BGA-FR-104)” at http://arastirma.tarimorman.gov.tr/bursagida, it must be passed through the browser and sent to the e-mail address of bursagida@tarimorman.gov.tr . If the article is not accepted for publication, the “Copyright Transfer Form (BGA-FR-104)” has no legal significance and is considered null.

With the signing of the "Copyright Transfer Form (BGA-FR-104)", the author has transfers all legally right as reproduce, reprint and distribute all or part of the article in addition to the publication and publication of the article in the "Food and Feed Science-Technology" to Feed Control Center Research Institute and it waives its own rights.

3.1.2. Manuscript format and Structure

The article to be sent to the journal should be written with Microsoft Word software, Times New Roman font on one side of A4 size paper, justified with 12 font size and 2 lines spacing, margins should be 2.5 cm from each edge. Shading and frame etc. on the page. applications should not be made. The content of the article should be written in a fluent and understandable manner, paying attention to the grammar rules. It should not exceed 22 pages, including research and review articles, charts and figures. The editor and editorial board may request that the article be shortened. All pages except the separate cover page should be numbered, but there should be no reference to a particular page number in the text.

Article; Title, English Title, Author Names and Addresses, Abstract, Turkish Keywords, Abstract, KeyWords, Main Text (Introduction, Material and Method, Discussion and Conclusion), Acknowledgments (if necessary) and References should be prepared under the main headings. Abbreviations should be defined in the text. The names of microorganisms mentioned in the study and Latin expressions and names should be written in italics and international writing rules should be considered in abbreviations. In articles to be prepared in English, main text sections should consist of the same titles.

Title: The title of the article should be short and clear, English and Turkish, only the first letter in capital, 12 font size, bold and centered on the page. In other titles, it has the same feature as the article title and should be written left-justified.

Author Names: The name and surname of the author or authors of the work should be written in 10 font size, the first and the first letters of the author in capital and the word in bold, without specifying the title, after a line blank below the title. Title and affiliated institutions should be written in italics and 8 font size under the names of the authors.

Summary and Abstract: It should be written in Turkish and English, not exceeding 150 words.

Keywords: At least 2 and 7 keywords that can express the text of the work should be written under the summaries.

Text: It consists of Introduction, Material and Method, Discussion and Conclusion sections.

Schedules and Figures: Tables in the text, "chart"; graphics, pictures, photographs, maps and flow charts should be named as “shape” and should be avoided as much as possible to use under 11 font size.

Table titles should be written on the top of the chart and figure titles should be written under the figure and numbered in order. Citation from reference should be made to the tables and figures used in the text. The data, tables and figures in the text should not be a repetition. The titles of the tables and figures should be compatible with their contents and understandable. It should be noted that the figures and pictures are in high resolution. Pictures (and if necessary, figures) must be included in the text in * .jpg format. Footnotes to be given in tables and figures should be written in 8 font size and italic under the tables and figures. Depending on preference, the title of the chart / figure in the Turkish research articles and all footnotes, if any, in the English language of the Turkish words should also be written in italics.

The sources used should be written in alphabetical order without taking the sequence number, taking into account the surname of the author. Many works of the same author should be listed chronologically.

References should be given in the text based on the surname of the author and the publication year of the work.
For example; citing references in the text, (Kantar, 1998), (Ekşi and Karadeniz, 1993), (Altan et al., 1984); In the references made to the authors, according to “Kantar (1998)”, Ekşi and Karadeniz (1993), Altan et al. (1998); If reference is made to more than one publication of the same author, (Kantar 1998a, 1998b) should be written as in the examples.

The Journal of Food and Feed Science-Technology has agreed and committed to comply with the guidelines (The COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors) prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Ethical duties and responsibilities accepted by the journal were prepared taking into account the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Council of Science Editors (CSE).

A. Ethical Guidelines for Editors and Editorial Board

The Editorial Board of The Journal of Food and Feed Science & Technology is committed to adhering to all ethical duties and responsibilities as openly stated on the basis of "COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1-Editors are responsible for all the articles published in the journal and are responsible for contributing to the improvement of the quality of the journal.

2-Editors are obliged to take into consideration and give feedback from readers.

3- Editors should make a positive or negative decision by evaluating the importance of the works submitted to the journal in terms of its importance, authenticity, validity, clarity of the narration and conformity with the aims and objectives of the journal.

4-Editors works sent to the journal; Regardless of the social, cultural, economic characteristics and religious beliefs of the authors, they should only be evaluated within the framework of their intellectual values.

5-Editors and Editorial Board should decide whether the works sent to the journal will be evaluated within 3 weeks and notify the author.

6-Editors and Editorial Board are obliged to inform the authors clearly if they decide to reject the article after the first review.
7-The works sent to the journal should be checked by the editors firstly whether there are reports against the possibility of plagiarism. At this stage, works without plagiarism reports and studies with possible plagiarism are rejected by the editors.

8-Editors and Editorial Board Members should not disclose articles sent to the journal to anyone other than referees.

9-Editors should not encourage the authors to cite any articles or other works in the journal for the acceptance of the works submitted to the journal.

10-Editors should send the articles to the referees who is in the same discipline suitable for their subject expertise.

11- If the editorial board has any conflict of interest with the authors' institutions or one or more interests of the authors, they should inform the commissioned editor and ask them to withdraw from the evaluation process.

12-Editors should encourage referees to evaluate working in an objective, scientific and objective language.

13- Editors should pay attention for choosing referees proses that they should be scientists who objectively evaluate the articles, carry out the peer review process, evaluate the article with constructive criticism and act in accordance with ethical rules.

14-Editors are obliged to inform the boards about the publication policies of the journal by determining the members of the editorial board and the board of referees in accordance with their expertise, can contribute and appropriate.

B. Ethical Guidelines for Author

In terms of publication ethics, The Journal of Food and Feed Science-Technology is committed to meeting the criteria accepted by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

1-All responsibilities of the works belong to their authors. The works should be prepared in accordance with the principles of scientific ethics, and in cases requiring an Ethics Committee Report, a copy should be attached.

Information on the Ethics Committee Report (board name, date and number no) regarding the following research topics should be given in the method section and also on the last page of the article.
 All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group work, observation, experiment, interview techniques.
 Using of humans and animals (including material / data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
 Clinical researches on humans,
 Research on animals,
 Retrospective studies in accordance with the Law on Protection of Personal Data.
 In addition, copyright regulations must be respected for the ideas and works of art used, obtaining permission from the owners for the use of scales, surveys and photographs of others.

2- It is mandatory that the works to be published are not published anywhere or sent to any journal to be published.

3- Only articles with abstracts published at national or international congresses are accepted for publication.

4- The Transfer of Copyright Agreement along with the works sent to be published in the journal should be signed by all authors and submitted with the article.

5-The journal uses the double-blind peer review system in which the identities of the referees and authors are hidden from each other in line with the provisions of the COPE.

6-During the publication process, the person (s) who make correspondence with the journal are considered as “Responsible Author”. It is the responsibility of the “Responsible Author” to share the correspondence with other authors, and to take necessary actions on time and correctly. "Responsible Author" does not have to be the first name of the article.

7-In a study whose evaluation process has started, special situations such as adding author, changing the order of the writer and removing the writer are at the initiative of “Responsible Author”.

8-Final Checklist should only be signed by the responsible author and submitted with the article.

9-Articles sent to be published in the Journal of Food and Feed Science-Technology cannot be withdrawn after the referee process is started.

10- The Journal of Food and Feed Science-Technology is requested from responsible authors to prevent Plagiarism and Duplicate.

11-Similarity rate should be maximum 20-30% excluding bibliography.

12-The authors are obliged to declare the situations that may constitute potential conflicts of interest of all the works submitted for publication and the institutions that support the studies in the last part of the article.

13- If the study was produced from graduate theses and there are people or institutions to thank for their contribution to the study, it should also be mentioned in the last part of the article.

C. Ethical Guidelines for Referee

1-If the article area is not in referee’ specialty, if it does not have enough information about the subject of the article or is unable to make a timely evaluation, then the editor should be informed from this situation and the referee should leave the evaluation task.

2-The referees must never evaluate the studies with the author that they have determined that there is competition, cooperation or other relationships or connections.

3-Referees should make their evaluation by respecting the principle of confidentiality and should not share the study with third parties.

4-Referees should keep the privileged information and ideas obtained during the review process secret and should not use them for personal benefit.

5-Referees should make their criticism and suggestions objectively and constructively in a polite language.

6-Insulting comments and criticisms that contain slander and insults against the author should not be used.

7-Referees should support their ideas with documents to clearly support them.

8-Referees should forward the situation to the editor if the evaluated work detects a substantial similarity with another previously published study.
